"As an artist you fathom the very essence of men and women. Your style is characterised by the sound choice and judicious use of materials. Your art poetically recycles reality."
Vincent-Richard Bloch, deputy mayor in charge of cultural affairs for the town of Poissy, France.

Born of a family of scientists, I discovered the joys of drawing and painting during my early years spent with my retired grandfather who designed and created enamels.

I opted for a professional career in the field of statistics and joined a company concerned with the social protection of farmers. And yet, throughout this long 20-year period, I never ceased to paint and draw.

Autumn 2003 was a turning point. I started oil painting and life study classes at Poissy Abbey’s Academy of Artists, before going on training leave to enrol in a comprehensive fulltime art course at the Parisian Elzevir atelier in the Marais district.

The colours I love are potent. At times warm, cold at others, none of my colours are ordinary; they bring strong feelings to the fore and my aim is to stimulate the onlooker’s deep-seated emotions rather than appeal to reason.

Human beings are the subjects I prefer. Observed from all angles: women, men, children etc. With a preference for portraits: the expression of a face, the attitude of hands.

I find this subject the most appropriate as I seek to establish contact between the model, the artist and the spectator, to provoke that spark with their shared energy : life itself.

The atmosphere emanating from the model imposes a choice between figurative or abstract rendering and between exact or interpreted rendering. In the successive works, the prevailing style oscillates between these various options.

This reveals my dual personality: precise and methodical on the one hand (thanks to statistics), imaginative and contemplative on the other.

In only 3 years, my life has completely changed. Here is the result.

I hope it will bring you happiness!
